Differential Alterations in Resting State Functional Connectivity Associated with Depressive Symptoms and Early Life Adversity

نویسندگان

چکیده

Depression and early life adversity (ELA) are associated with aberrant resting state functional connectivity (FC) of the default mode (DMN), salience (SN), central executive networks (CEN). However, specific differential associations depression ELA FC these remain unclear. Applying a dimensional approach, here we analyzed between major nodes DMN, SN, CEN severity depressive symptoms defined as childhood abuse neglect in sample 83 healthy depressed subjects. Depressive were linked to increased within SN decreased DMN CEN. Childhood was whereas DMN. Our study thus provides evidence for contributes clarification previously contradictory findings. Specific abnormalities may underlie cognitive emotional impairments. Future research should link clinical resulting from patterns thereby characterizing subtypes neurobiological signatures.

Functional Connectivity Alterations in Epilepsy from Resting-State Functional MRI

The study of functional brain connectivity alterations induced by neurological disorders and their analysis from resting state functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (rfMRI) is generally considered to be a challenging task. The main challenge lies in determining and interpreting the large-scale connectivity of brain regions when studying neurological disorders such as epilepsy. We tackle this ch...

Differential alterations of resting-state functional connectivity in generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder (PD) are most common anxiety disorders with high lifetime prevalence while the pathophysiology and disease-specific alterations still remain largely unclear. Few studies have taken a whole-brain perspective in the functional connectivity (FC) analysis of these two disorders in resting state. It limits the ability to identify regionally and p...

Early-life stress exposure associated with altered prefrontal resting-state fMRI connectivity in young children

Early-life stress (ELS) exposure is associated with adverse outcomes across the lifespan. We examined the relation of ELS exposure to resting-state fMRI in children ages 4-7 years. ELS in the first years of life, but not concurrent, was associated with higher regional homogeneity of resting-state fMRI in the left lateral frontal cortex. Resting-state fMRI functional connectivity analyses showed...

Resting State Functional Connectivity in Perfusion Imaging: Correlation Maps with BOLD Connectivity and Resting State Perfusion

Functional connectivity is a property of the resting state that may provide biomarkers of brain function and individual differences. Classically, connectivity is estimated as the temporal correlation of spontaneous fluctuations of BOLD signal. We investigated differences in connectivity estimated from the BOLD and CBF signal present in volumes acquired with arterial spin labeling technique in a...

Resting-state Functional Connectivity During Controlled Respiratory Cycles Using Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the effect of controlled mouth breathing during the resting state using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Methods: Eleven subjects participated in this experiment in which the controlled “Nose” and “Mouth” breathings of 6 s respiratory cycle were performed with a visual cue at 3T MRI. Voxel-wise seed-to-voxel maps and whole-brain region of i...
